Smaller, slimmer and more stylish than the original. Available in two versions: with a light or dark dial. This is the Luminor Piccolo Due, the first Panerai watch created specifically for women.
For many years, the Replica Panerai brand has been a bastion of masculinity. The descriptions of watches produced by this company most often included terms such as: military origins, Italian navy and divers’ watches. In other words: a large dose of testosterone. In 2016, something changed and Panerai showed the Luminor Due watch, which at first glance looked almost the same as the famous Luminor Marina model, but had a flatter case (more associated with the classics, not the company’s military history). Back then, many fans of the brand approached this change with considerable reservation, because suddenly the world they knew no longer existed. What’s worse, Luminor Due appeared in a version with a smaller case with a diameter of 38 mm. Die-hard fans of the brand, the so-called Paneristi then decided that it was a women’s model, although there was no mention of it in the official announcements. This year, Panerai dispelled all doubts and showed two new versions of the Luminor Piccolo Due model, announcing that these are the first watches created specifically for women.
Superficially, both look almost identical to “normal” Luminors: they have similar cushion-shaped cases, a characteristic crown protection with a safety lock and sandwich dials. And the differences? The most important thing is a smaller, flatter envelope. In addition, the water resistance is 30 m, proving the classic character of the watch. As I mentioned, Luminor Piccolo Due is available in two contrasting versions: with a light ivory dial and with an anthracite dial. Both have surfaces decorated with a sun-brushed finish, so their color is not uniform and may change to lighter or darker depending on the angle of incidence of light.
In the version with a light dial, the indexes, numbers and hands are covered with a beige luminous mass that perfectly matches the gold hands. However, the variant with an anthracite dial has brighter indexes and numbers that contrast better with the dark background. Thanks to these nuances and the shade of the strap made of shiny alligator leather (blood red or black), the watch looks more extravagant or classic. The owner can change it freely, including choosing a different color, because Luminor Piccolo Due has a quick strap replacement system.
And finally, the most important information for lovers of mechanical watches: the mechanism. For all indications, i.e. hours, minutes, small second hand at 9 and date stamp at 3 is the automatic caliber P.900 from our own factory, which has a power reserve of up to 3 days. Price: EUR 6,100 (~PLN 28,000).
