Exactly one month ago my post on the Fake Rolex 2024 predictions went online, the usual appointment with Class Watches’ hypotheses on the new Rolex models, a moment that I look forward to every year to share with you my intuitions and bets on what the global watchmaking giant could reserve for us.
Today I decided to update my predictions, or rather to provide other perspectives and points of view on the possible wonders that Rolex will reveal to us at the next Geneva Watch and Wonders Show, which will take place in less than a month.
In 2023, until the brand created by Hans Wilsdorf revealed its new entries, the only certainty we had was that the Maison would remain faithful to its format that has always been made up of small changes. When the curtain rose in Geneva, we immediately realized that once again Rolex had done it right under everyone’s noses, proving on the contrary to be very innovative.
Thus we saw a new Daytona with a new caliber, the long-awaited Yacht-Master in titanium RLX but, even more striking, the intention with the new Perpetual 1908 collection to replace the Cellini, to also put a foot in the Traditional fine watchmaking.
For 2024, Rolex predicts another year of new, refined and innovative models that will consolidate the exceptional performance that a recent Corriere article reports has largely broken through the 10 billion turnover threshold in 2023, maintaining absolute leadership with a 30% share in the Swiss luxury watches segment, a topic I will explore further below.
Our Fake Rolex Predictions from previous years
With 2024 we have been launching ourselves to question the crowned sphere for six years. You don’t win anything but it’s a fun game, however in 2020 and 2021 we have guessed and even the main news.
In 2020, which was devastated by Covid, watchmaking salons collapsed completely. Also on this occasion, in a context of news released somewhat randomly by the brands, the crowned ones had distinguished themselves by unveiling them all at once in September, a notoriously crucial month for the sector as it marks the start of the top quarter for sales of the year.
On that occasion we guessed the arrival of a completely renewed Submariner collection, a rather easy prediction given the need to replace the then outdated caliber 3135 – in service since 1988 – with the 3235 which first of all offers a power reserve of 70 hours instead of 48, but also the more high-performance Chronergy escapement. But the surprise was to combine the most recent movement with a new 1mm larger case with a corresponding modified bracelet.
The following year, 2021, we guessed again by predicting the arrival of the most important entry, the new Explorer II, the watch for speleologists who go into the bowels of the earth or into the polar regions, where six months of light alternate with six months at night and it is still necessary to distinguish daytime hours from nighttime hours, a task performed by the oversized orange hand that has characterized the Explorer II since 1971, otherwise nicknamed “Freccione”.
And here ends our list of victorious predictions. But like every year, we are here to try again.
The 2024 Rolex Predictions of Classy Watches
As always, I’m here by your side trying to win the crowned lottery, a game that I really like also because it’s one of the best opportunities that the season offers to read everyone’s opinion.
Notice: The guesses with modified Fake Rolex images you see in this article are absolutely arbitrary and unofficial.
Rolex Milgauss
The most awaited projection is a new Rolex Milgauss, a model that surprisingly went out of production last season. The latest reference in the Z-blue collection was a fan favorite for its unique lightning bolt-shaped hand and orange accents on an unlikely (for a sports watch) sunburst blue dial.
For this reason, according to some rumours, a Milgauss could return in 2024 animated by an updated movement with a resistance to magnetic fields much greater than 1,000 gauss, which as I pointed out already last year are now widely surpassed by many brands.
Potential specifications of the new generation Milgauss include a new 40mm Air-King style but thinner stainless steel case as the watch first introduced by Rolex in 1956, at the time appearing in a professional Oyster case, it would do without the internal soft iron casing that is used to create a Faraday cage. Furthermore, on this occasion Rolex could give the nod to Omega, which since 2013 through the Master Chronometer certification has offered 14 times greater protection, among other things recently in all its watches.
But in such a competitive field you should never sit back on your laurels. Among other things, it was recently discovered that Rolex had developed a new patent that would significantly improve the anti-magnetic properties of its watches.
