The Santos collection of sports models is joined by a watch with a discreetly integrated time display complication in the second zone that does not disturb the proportions.
As many of you probably know, Replica Cartier Santos plays a significant role in the history of watchmaking. You can read how much – if you have to remind yourself – in our #CultWatches series HERE. Santos, in many different forms, is still one of the pillars of the manufacturer’s offer and is constantly considered a synonym of watch classics and elegance. The most popular is the steel version of the watch, in which a characteristic, square case is combined with a steel bracelet. In this edition, the timepiece remains extremely universal, combining classic style with a sporty, casual style.
This year, a very efficiently designed Dual Time model joins the Santos collection. As the name rightly suggests, the watch is equipped with an additional time display in the second zone.
Cartier has retained all of the Santos’ signature elements in steel with a steel bracelet. At the moment, only the Large model is available (unfortunately), whose case measures 40.2 x 47.5 mm. The dimensions on the wrist will be slightly reduced by the not exaggerated thickness – 10.1 mm. Typically for Santos, a seven-sided crown with a spinel cabochon is located on the right side of the case. The steel bracelet is equipped with convenient adjustment of SmartLink links (does not require additional tools) and a quick change system thanks to which it can be replaced with a leather strap.
The Santos Dual Time is initially offered (assuming that other versions will appear) with a metallic gray dial, which – it must be admitted – goes well with the cold color of the steel. The sun-cut dial has classic Roman hour markers and a square ring with a minute scale. The date window – with a disc in the color of the dial – is positioned at 3, the title complication, devoting space at the bottom of the entire composition. Cartier implemented the time display in the second zone discreetly, in the form of a small, silver dial with a snail cut. It is graduated in the 12-hour format and equipped with a single, separately adjustable hand. Additionally, there is a helpful, round day/night indicator above the dial.
The heart of the Cartier Santos Dual Time is the automatic caliber XXX, with a power reserve of XX. The mechanism is covered with a full case back, screwed to the case.
Availability and price
The complicated yet functional Santos Dual Time in steel is not limited – so it will be available in the brand’s regular collection. You have to pay XXX for one copy.
PS. This year, the regular collection of automatic Santos watches in steel is joined by a version with an original brown fume dial, additionally decorated with a solar cut. This model, powered by the automatic caliber 1847 MC, will be available in a Medium (35.1 x 41.9 mm) or Large (39.8 x 47.5 mm) version.
