A model with an unusual color combination of the case and dial joins the collection of classic, hand-wound watches from the Geneva manufacture. It will be available in two versions – for her and his wrist.
Watchmaking classics are the greatest bastion of conservatism in the entire watch industry. There is nothing wrong with this, because it usually means consistency both mechanically and aesthetically. The so-called A classic watch could probably be described by anyone, even an inexperienced expert on the subject, in his own words, and the image would probably be similar. And while canons in watchmaking are, to some extent, sacred, sometimes deviations from the norm produce an interesting effect. Golden green
While technically the new Traditionelle models do not defy the canons (more on that in a moment), their style can easily be described as modern and even bold. Vacheron combined a warm, rose gold case with an olive-green dial and a similarly colored strap. The combination is unusual, but works surprisingly well, also thanks to the details. The dial is decorated with a clear, eye-catching sunburst, which adds an iridescent effect. Additionally, there are simple, polished gold indexes, white scales and gold, traditional hands. In the men’s version of the watch, at 6 there is a small seconds dial decorated with a worm cut.
The gold, fully polished case with slightly profiled lugs, signed crown and two sapphire glasses measures 38 mm in diameter. It is only 7.77 mm thick, which is just right for an elegant suit watch. The lugs of the case have an alligator leather strap fastened with a gold buckle.
The heart of the watch, perfectly exposed by the sapphire window in the case back, is the manually wound caliber 4400 AS. The mechanism manufactured in the Geneva factory has a 65-hour power reserve, 4 Hz balance and a full set of decorations, including polishers and Geneva stripes on the bridges.
For the ladies
In addition to the larger, 38-mil Traditionnelle Manual-Winding model, there will also be a smaller version of the watch dedicated to women. However, the 33 mm diameter of the case is not the only change regarding this variant. The bezel of the case is set with 54 diamonds, and there is no second hand on the dial – so only two gold hands keep time. They are powered by the manual caliber 1440 with a 42-hour power reserve.
Availability and price
Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Manual-Winding in 38 mm and 33 mm versions are part of the brand’s permanent collection. They were officially presented during the recently started Shanghai edition of Watches & Wonders. The men’s model costs EUR 25,700 (~PLN 119,250), while the women’s model costs EUR 32,100 (~PLN 148,950).
